Position: PSV/HGV Lead Shift Mechanic
Location: Unit 4 Corporation Rd, Rochdale, OL11 4EU
We are now looking for an NVQ/SVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) qualified PSV/HGV Lead Shift Mechanic to join the busy team at First Bus Rochdale Depot – PSV or HGV mechanical experience is great however we love to hear from ex-Forces personnel with an engineering apprenticeship qualification, and experienced engineers from other automotive sectors looking for a change.
Key Details:
- £23.69 per hour for weekdays
- £24.69 Saturdays, £25.69 Sundays
- Approx. £46,310 per annum
- 5 days over 7 (including weekends)
- Minimum 40 hours per week
- Rotation of early shifts 05:00-15:30 and late shifts 14:30-01:00
In this hands-on role, you'll keep vehicles running safely and reliably by diagnosing faults, completing mechanical repairs and replacing parts when needed. You'll carry out scheduled servicing, routine inspections and preventative maintenance, as well as responding to on-road breakdowns and recoveries. You'll also road test vehicles where required and make sure all documentation is completed accurately and in line with regulations and health and safety standards.
What We're Looking For
- Do you have a Level 3 NVQ/SVQ or City & Guilds equivalent in vehicle maintenance & repair?
- Do you have experience working on HGV or PSV?
- Do you have a valid UK driving licence?
- Do you also have a strong attention to detail and a passion for mechanics?
- Do you have supervisory experience, or the willingness to step up to this level?
