Position: PSV/HGV Mechanic

Location: Basildon Depot, SS16 5AG

We are now looking for an NVQ/SVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) qualified PSV/HGV Mechanic to join the busy team at First Bus Basildon Depot – PSV or HGV mechanical experience is great however we love to hear from ex-Forces personnel with an engineering apprenticeship qualification, and experienced engineers from other automotive sectors looking for a change. Basildon is a fully electrified depot with state-of-the-art vehicles and charging facilities, anyone that joins us will be upskilled in electric vehicle maintenance.

Key Details:

• £24.37 per hour
• £25.42 weekend premium rate
• Approx. £46,310 per annum
• 4 days over 7 - minimum 39 hours per week
• Rotation of early shifts 05:00-15:00 and late shifts 14:30-00:30
• Potential to earn around £4000 extra with weekend premium
• £2,000 joining bonus!

In this hands-on role, you'll keep vehicles running safely and reliably by diagnosing faults, completing mechanical repairs and replacing parts when needed. You'll carry out scheduled servicing, routine inspections and preventative maintenance, as well as responding to on-road breakdowns and recoveries. You'll also road test vehicles where required and make sure all documentation is completed accurately and in line with regulations and health and safety standards.

What We're Looking For

• Do you have a Level 3 NVQ/SVQ or City & Guilds equivalent in vehicle maintenance & repair?
• Do you have experience working on HGV or PSV?
• Do you have a valid UK driving licence?
• Do you also have a strong attention to detail and a passion for mechanics?
