Help us deliver the UK's largest bus decarbonisation programme
At First Bus, we're not just talking about sustainability, we're actively transforming public transport across the UK.
Our ambition is clear: a fully zero-emission bus fleet by 2035. We're already well on the way, with around 1,500 electric buses in operation across the UK and one of the country's largest EV charging hubs. To achieve our goal, we're continuing to invest in zero-emission vehicles, charging infrastructure, depot transformations and new ways of working that will shape the future of public transport for decades to come. This is one of the most ambitious decarbonisation programmes in the industry, and we're proud to be leading the way.
We're looking for a Programme Coordinator to join our Decarbonisation team and help drive our zero-emission journey. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with project administration or project coordination experience who is eager to learn, develop their programme management skills and contribute to a nationally significant transformation programme. If you're organised, proactive and enjoy working with a wide range of stakeholders, we'd love to hear from you.
What you'll be doing
Programme Coordination & Delivery: Supporting the planning, coordination and tracking of activities across multiple projects to help keep our decarbonisation programme on track.
Stakeholder Engagement & Communications: Building strong relationships across the business and helping ensure stakeholders are kept informed of progress, priorities and key updates.
Programme Governance, Reporting & Performance: Maintaining programme reporting, tracking milestones, risks and actions, and providing insights to support effective decision-making.
Financial, Funding & Supplier Support: Supporting budget tracking, grant administration and supplier performance activities to help ensure successful programme delivery.
Continuous Improvement & Operational Readiness: Helping identify opportunities to improve processes, share best practice and support the successful transition to zero-emission operations.
What we're looking for
We're looking for an organised and proactive individual who is excited by the opportunity to play a role in one of the UK's most ambitious transport decarbonisation programmes.
You'll ideally bring:
Experience in a Project Administrator, Project Coordinator, PMO Support, Programme Support or similar role
Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
Confidence working with data, reports and presentations
A proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement
Strong Microsoft 365 skills, including Excel, PowerPoint, Teams and SharePoint
The ability to work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders across the business
A willingness to learn, develop new skills and take on new challenges
It would be advantageous if you are working towards, or hold, a recognised project management qualification such as an APM PMQ (or equivalent), APM Associate Membership, or PRINCE2 certification.
