Are you an organised and detail-focused payroll professional looking for your next opportunity? We're seeking a Payroll Administrator to join our team at Fulwell Garage to support the accurate and timely delivery of weekly and monthly payrolls. Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Support the end-to-end processing of weekly and monthly payrolls, ensuring employees are paid accurately and on time
  • Prepare, validate and submit payroll data within agreed payroll deadlines
  • Process employee lifecycle changes including new starters, leavers, contract amendments, salary changes and pay progression adjustments
  • Administer variable payments such as overtime, allowances, expenses, holiday pay, bonuses and deductions
  • Process statutory payments and deductions, including SSP, SMP, PAYE, National Insurance, student loans and attachment of earnings orders
  • Manage pension administration, including auto-enrolment, pension contributions, postponements and salary sacrifice arrangements
  • Maintain accurate payroll and employee records, ensuring data integrity across payroll and HR systems
  • Act as a first point of contact for payroll queries, providing timely, professional and confidential support to employees and managers
  • Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies ensuring issues are addressed efficiently and accurately
  • Complete payroll reconciliations and support payroll journal preparation, reporting and financial controls
  • Produce payroll reports and provide accurate payroll information to Finance, HR, operational teams and external stakeholders
  • Support payroll audits, year-end activities and statutory reporting requirements
  • Ensure compliance with HMRC regulations, employment legislation, pension legislation and company policies
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives identifying opportunities to enhance payroll processes and efficiencies

 

Skills Required:

 

  • Previous experience in a Payroll Administrator, Payroll Officer or similar payroll role with a strong understanding of end-to-end UK payroll processing
  • Good knowledge of PAYE, National Insurance, pensions, statutory payments and payroll legislation
  • Strong numerical, analytical and reconciliation skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Experience using payroll and HR systems with intermediate to advanced Excel skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet strict payroll deadlines and work effectively under pressure
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills with the ability to handle confidential information professionally and discreetly
  • CIPP qualification (or working towards), experience working with outsourced payroll providers and knowledge of pension auto-enrolment would be advantageous
