The Workday Integration Specialist is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining integrations that connect Workday with other enterprise applications. This role ensures the seamless flow of accurate and secure data between First Bus systems, supporting operational efficiency and enabling reliable business processes across HR, Payroll, Finance, and wider business functions.
The Integration Specialist acts as the technical expert for all Workday integrations, providing hands-on development, solution design, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement to ensure Workday remains a stable and effective platform within the organisation's technology ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, test, and deploy integrations using Workday EIB, Core Connectors, Workday Studio, and REST/SOAP APIs.
- Maintain and enhance existing integrations across HR, Payroll, Finance, IT, and third-party vendor systems.
- Ensure integrations follow Workday best practices, architectural standards, and organisational security requirements.
- Work collaboratively with IT, HR, Payroll, and other business stakeholders to gather integration requirements and understand data needs.
- Analyse data sources, map data fields, and define transformation rules to ensure data consistency and accuracy.
- Produce technical design documents and specifications for new or enhanced integrations.
- Monitor integration runs and system performance, proactively identifying errors or inefficiencies.
- Troubleshoot integration issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement fixes in a timely manner.
- Support end-to-end testing for system changes, Workday releases, and integration upgrades.
- Maintain integration documentation, including design specifications, data mapping, configuration notes, and support guides.
- Ensure all integrations comply with data governance, audit standards, security protocols, and privacy requirements.
Skills, Experience & Qualifications
- Solid experience in systems integration, preferably within a Workday environment.
- Strong proficiency with Workday integration tools (EIB, Core Connectors, Workday Studio) and experience working with REST/SOAP APIs.
- Solid understanding of data mapping, transformation logic, XML/XSLT, and integration security (OAuth, certificates, encryption, etc.).
- Excellent troubleshooting skills with the ability to identify, diagnose, and resolve issues quickly and thoroughly.
- Strong documentation skills and a structured, methodical approach to integration development.
- Familiarity with Workday functional domains (HR, Absence, Payroll, Finance).
- Experience supporting integrations in a large, complex, or multi-system environment.
