About the role
The mechanical engineering bus depot Workshop Manager will support and stand in for the Engineering Manager, overseeing engineering performance at the depot, including fleet and environmental management, while ensuring compliance with legislative and policy standards. They will engage with frontline staff through clear communication and recognition, fostering a positive work environment. The role involves detailed job preparation, planning and estimating work times, and aligning manpower with workload capacity. Additionally, the workshop manager will implement technical standards to ensure jobs are completed consistently and efficiently within the depot's governance framework.
Role responsibilities:
- You will manage the bus depot mechanical engineering team in accordance with FirstGroup policies, standard operating procedures, and all relevant legislation.
- You will work with the training function to ensure that engineering teams are competently trained, and to achieve agreed establishment requirements.
- Your role is to support the induction and development of an engaged, talented, and high performing engineering team, nurturing an innovative and continuous improvement culture.
- Conduct any disciplinary, grievance or absence management reviews in accordance with Company policy.
- Work alongside the Stores Manager to ensure optimum management of stock, including accurate and timely processing of warranty claims.
- Perform regular audits to confirm compliance with legislative and company standards
Salary per annum: £46,000.00
About you
- You must have a minimum NVQ Level 3 mechanical engineering or equivalent qualification.
- Have you got workshop supervisor or management experience in a mechanics, HGV or PSV, van, coach or bus capacity?
- Do you have experience using computer-aided engineering planning platforms?
- Have you got experience using System Applications and Products (SAP) software?
- You must be a UK resident
- You must have a valid UK drivers licence
- Must have flexibility to cover shifts as and when needed.
