I have Type 1 diabetes treated with insulin, which is very well controlled (approximately 90% time in range), with full hypo awareness and no history of severe hypoglycaemia. Would this condition prevent me from being considered for a driver role?

    Hi Paul

    Thanks for your question. 

    Having Type 1 Diabetes would not usually prevent you from being considered for a Bus Driver role however you would need to meet certain conditions as set by the DVLA to obtain a Bus Licence. 

    Upon application you must declare your condition and should you pass a interview all applicants are required to attend a medical, our doctors will go through your medical history and that information is sent off to the DVLA. The process may take a little longer for you as they will likely need to obtain information about your condition from your GP but we will keep the job application open whilst this process is conducted.
