Depot allocation and route details for a potential applicant relocating from Birmingham.

Marcel B. asked a question to Derek H.

I am planning to relocate from Birmingham to the Somerset area and I am very interested in applying for a Bus Driver position with First Bus. Specifically, I would love to work on the 126 route (Weston-super-Mare to Wells) as I prefer interurban routes. Before I submit my formal application and start looking for accommodation (a house share), I would kindly like to ask: 1. If I apply, can I be contractually allocated specifically to the Weston-super-Mare depot? 2. What are the earliest start times and latest finish times for shifts at this depot? This will help me choose the right location for my rent based on my commute. 3. Is there a possibility to receive an employment confirmation letter for landlords once the interview process is successful? Thank you for your time and assistance. Kind regards, Marcel

    Hi Marcel,

Apologies for the delay in coming back to you, and thanks for your interest in joining First Bus.

It’s great to hear you’re considering relocating to Somerset and are particularly interested in the 126 route between Weston-super-Mare and Wells.

    Regarding your questions:

    Depot allocation
Currently we do not have any live vacancies available in Weston Super Mare, however if you were to apply for a depot close to here such as Wells, there would be scope to move you into Weston if and when positions become available.

    Shift times:
Start and finish times vary depending on the rota and services operated and the depot that you apply for.  I know you were looking to apply for Weston however with no vacanies currently available let me know what else would suit and I can find more information on shifts for that depot.  For reassurance shifts are also discussed at interview with the local team.

    Employment confirmation:
Once you’ve successfully completed the recruitment process and received a confirmed offer, we can advise on the employment confirmation documentation available to support your accommodation application.

I appreciate that relocating is a big decision, so it’s important to have as much clarity as possible before making any firm commitments. I’d recommend confirming which depot you plan on applying for and we can get more information for you.

Thanks again for considering First Bus, and best of luck with your relocation plans.
